Hello, again, darlings. Welcome back to Read n’ Sip Recommendations with Kirsten. This week, I’ve returned with Part 4 of my Cocktail/Book Pairings.
While I joke that these are Cocktails to enjoy with your Cock Tales, my books aren’t as erotic as that implies. It was just too good of a pun to pass up. However, my books are on the spicy side. If that’s your thing, then please dive in, but remember to read and sip responsibly. Both the books and the drinks should be enjoyed only by those of the appropriate age.
I’ve chosen a few cocktails to pair with my books and include a recipe from The Spruce Eats for each drink. I think these drinks match their story perfectly. Let’s check out these new cocktail/book pairings.
This novella from my Sunshine Meets Grump Series kicks off the list with a spicy, snowy spin on the traditional Christmas spirit. I like to call this story my “trope-a-thon” because there are so many tropes crammed into it without making it too much. If you’re going to dive into this sweet holiday treat, best to do it with a spicy twist on the classic eggnog. There’s nothing traditional about either of these delightful indulgences. Reign of Wicked Temptation is the final installment of the Prince of Whispers Trilogy. It’s both a heartwrenching and emotional journey for the reader as well as the characters. I made Crispin and Ruby work for their happily ever after, that’s for sure. The best way to describe it is bittersweet. The perfect cocktail compliment to this book is the classic Negroni, which is a strong, spirit-forward cocktail. It has a bite of bitterness to keep you from drinking it too fast. But for those who enjoy that kind of thing, I highly recommend drowning your tears in it as you read. Click HERE for the recipe.
She Gives Love a Bad Name will certainly give you a reading hangover. I know I got one when I wrote it. Quinn and Grant are the ultimate Grumpy/Grumpier couple and what better way to challenge them than by throwing a serial killer into the mix. A tall Bloody Mary is a fantastic compliment to the bloody mystery you’ll find awaiting our grumpy duo. Click HERE for the recipe.
This contemporary rom com has it all. Fashion, office romance, online flirtations, a hot older boss, and friends who are always there when you need them. Lily takes center stage with her pin-up couture and love of all things vintage. She’s a pop of color in a classic setting which is why I chose the Blackberry Mojito as the cocktail to enjoy while you read her story. The sweet bite of the berry mixed with the heady mint and kick of rum will leave you swooning…just like when you meet Jackson Roberts. Here’s the Recipe.
This stand-alone novella was too much fun to write. A grumpy boss babe crosses paths with a veteran turned airline attendant…and sparks fly. Too bad their simmering one-night stand turns into coming home and meeting the family over a misunderstanding. Whoops! You’ll definitely need something with a strong holiday twist to accompany this spicy Christmas read. An Apple Pie Old Fashioned is the drink of choice for this adventure, trust me. Nothing says Americana Christmas drama like Apple Pie and Bourbon. Click HERE for the recipe.
Temptation on the Alpine Express is yet another example of a book I didn’t realize I would ever write. After writing Seduction on the Alpine Express, I realized Nikolai and Gertrude were hiding their own secrets. I was determined to uncover them. A Russian bodyguard and a Bavarian lady’s maid. I really wanted to go with a straight shot of ice-cold vodka here, but their romance is much more complex and nuanced. The bite of ginger beer and lime adds depth to a Moscow Mule, making this drink exactly what you need to soothe your nerves as you uncover all of the secrets in this steamy historical romance. Check out the recipe HERE.
This novella is a wild ride, let me tell ya! Addison comes from a long line of Super Villains, but her family shuns her for her horrible, useless superpower. Her brother calls her a “poser” because it’s so lame. What’s her superpower? She can manipulate adipose. Yes, FAT. I mean…damn, I’ll take that ability. When the handsome bartender she’s befriended catches her red-handed, things get really freaking complicated. The drink of choice here is Between the Sheets. It’s classic and potent…a delicious treat when you use quality ingredients. No posers allowed here! (Bonus: Two of my own drink recipes are included in this book. The Time Stopper and Manipulator. Check those out!) Click HERE for the Between the Sheets recipe.
I hope you enjoyed Part 4 of my cocktail pairing post. I’m having so much fun with these. Keep an eye out for Part 5 coming next year!
Until then, sip responsibly while you read. Enjoy! xoxo
Kirsten
