Behold: Pirates and Persuasion

Some of you are probably wondering…why on earth would she write a series of pirate romances? Well, let me assure you, I had my doubts in the beginning. When I took part in the A-Z Blog Challenge back in 2015, I wrote a few random scenes featuring everyone’s favorite villainous pirate, Captain James Hook. They took root in my mind, and even after years of working on other projects, I could not purge this persistent desire to write my version of Captain Hook. So I indulged in it.

You already know what inspired this book if you read the post about my inspiration for Queen Takes Hook. It tells you exactly how it came about. But how did one book turn into a series?

Well, as I wrote James and Celeste’s story, I found myself drawn to Mr. Smee with his caring nature and quiet disposition. He’s a force to be reckoned with but has a well-rounded personality that isn’t prone to rash decisions and anger. This isn’t the film version of Mr. Smee you’ve all come to envision. I created my romantic vision of the first mate in Queen Takes Hook. Mr. Smee is swoon-worthy, handsome and charming, but he clashes terribly with another character…the famous brothel owner, Madame Tinker. This detail alone absolutely deserves attention and exploration. But I require another book to dive deeper into their complicated relationship.

There is a complexity to this fantastical world I created, and it deserves to be explored. I couldn’t do it in a single book, and I don’t enjoy tormenting readers with cliffhangers. So I decided a stand-alone duo would be best to give both Captain Hook and Mr. Smee their own Happily Ever Afters.

That is…until I met Admiral Tiberius Hook. While I was completing edits for Queen Takes Hook, I realized something very important. The Captain’s father, Admiral Tiberius Hook, had his own story to tell. *gasp* A silver fox pirate lord who gets a second chance at love? Tell me more.

Well, I immediately ran to my cover artist and asked her to create a cover for the esteemed admiral, and she delivered…in spades. I received two covers to choose from! Well, I couldn’t decide. Both of them were gorgeous, distinct and appealing. And they were telling me TWO separate stories. So I took both covers and made notes for two more books in the Pirates and Persuasion Series. 🤦‍♀️ I must be a glutton for punishment by adding more work to my plate.

Not only will I be writing Admiral Hook’s story, but I’ll be adding more family drama by introducing his half-brother, Lucian Bishop, to the mix. And of course, he deserves his own HEA, right? At some point in the future, I’ll be including The Admiral’s Gambit and The Bishop’s Vendetta in the writing roster. A Pirate’s Pawn is on my list to write at the end of this year.

You’re curious about these mysterious covers, aren’t you? Well, I can never sit on my cover art and do a big fancy reveal. I just LOVE them too much. So here are all the Pirates and Persuasion covers together, in order. Enjoy!

What do you think? Aren’t they AMAZING? I’m absolutely in love with all four. I never expected to write a pirate romance series, but here we are. Surprises all around!

I’m just honored and blessed that I can write these fantastic adventures and share them with you all. I hope you’re as excited about the rest of this series as I am. Just looking at those covers gives me all kinds of plot ideas and personality quirks. Maybe I should go take some notes. 😉

Stick around for more announcements and updates! I have some BIG NEWS coming in June. Thanks for all your love and support.
