Interview with Author D.F. Kreiger

Author Interview:  D. F. Kreiger

Welcome and tell us a little about your book and what you write.

‘Ello, I’m D. F. Krieger and I have a problem. My book, Panthers and Precincts, doesn’t like to behave and fit into just one category. Oh no, it likes to stretch out so it fits Paranormal Romance, Urban Fantasy, and Paranormal Mystery/Thriller. My story is about a zoologist who discovers a literate panther and must correspond with a detective on a missing child case.

Ten Questions of Torture:

1. What motivates you to write?

If I did not, my insanity would soon outweigh my common sense and plans for death rays would shortly grace the walls of my home.

2. Top five most romantic films in your opinion.

Bram Stroker’s Dracula, Avatar, Practical Magic, Legend, The Proposal

3. Best Kiss scene in film?

The one that didn’t happen between Frodo and Sam in Lord of the Rings.

4. Top three authors who have inspired you?

Rachel Firasek because she wiped the floor with me during a crit session. It hurt, but I came out stronger for it. Piers Anthony, because reading his Xanth series taught me to write my own worlds, no matter how crazy they seemed to others. Christine Feehan, whose stories showed me love can be dark and still be enthralling.

5. What is your favorite subgenre of romance?

Uh, I do not comprehend this question. The answer must be “Magic,” then.

6. Do you have a favorite poem?

You hide behind your masquerade attire
Eyes that glitter betraying longing
Never do you utter a word

Nor give a smile more genuine then painted
Yet the conversation could never be clearer
The sway of our bodies is your voice

The light in your eyes a vivid smile
So loud, enticing amidst the color splashed world
Always at a distance am I kept

Though I yearn to see your face
Would that I could free your ties
Let you stand before me as you alone

“Hush and play the costumed monster”
Your eyes are bitter with regret
“Those here would run if they knew the truth”

My body holds you closer as I whisper my reply
“We are all monsters hidden by painted smiles”
Against gloved hand my claws dig deep

 7. What do you do in your free time, when you get it?

I kill things. Y’know, dragons, goblins, evil wizards. Oh, I also horseback ride and cross stitch.

8. Any new projects on the burner?

If I told you, I’d have to kill you.

9. What is your secret indulgence?

My husband. Oh, you didn’t mean that kind of… Okay. This is awkward…

10. If you could do one thing right now, without consequences, what would it be?  Why?

I would rob a bank and buy a horse farm where I would then run a horse rescue and pretend they were unicorns trapped in the mortal realm, hiding from humans.

Lightning Round:

Favorite season? The very beginning of fall, when the air is crisp, the sun is out, and the leaves are just turning.

Biggest pet peeve? Stupidity. No, seriously.

Favorite dessert? Video games! Well, if I’m a good girl and get all my work done, that’s what I get after dinner.

Favorite color? Purple! I thought everyone knew that by now.

Drink of choice? Iced sweet tea.

Favorite band? I have several. Depeche Mode, Blaqk Audio, and Julien-K

Action flick or RomCom?  I’m an action girl, all the way.

Cuddling  or making out.  Can I answer with “intimate moments that aren’t interrupted by my children?”

Video games or a good book.  That’s not fair. You know I’m just as much a diehard gamer as I am a writer.

Pirate or cowboy.  Neither. 😉

Sexy or sweet? Sexy

Bonus: If you could meet one person in all of history, who would it be and why?

Me in my past life. To, y’know, created paradoxes and stuff. I think it’d be fun.

Thank you very much for taking the time out of your busy schedule to take part in this interview, D. F. Kreiger.  We look forward to having you back again soon.  🙂
